Then and Now

Isn't it amazing how much we thought we knew, and how wrong we were?

Tell us what you're doing, what you're proud of, what you have yet to do, your kids, etc. Then, swallow your pride and post a picture. We have to laugh at yourselves a little to make this work.

These submissions are reviewed by us before posting.

I can scan your yearbook photo if you like, just put [scan my photo] in your posting.

Photos are optional, but c'mon let's have some fun!

I studied computers at Temple, met my wife Cindy, worked for DuPont, and then married. I then got an MBA at Nothwestern. That landed me a job near Woodstock where we have lived mostly for the last 20 years. We have three children, Alex who is 21 and Adam and Alyssa who are 18 (yes twins and we were suprised too!) I worked in the technology industry for 17 years until my mid-life crisis had me chuck it all in and become a teacher in 2000.

Everything is great and I love my life!

Comment: Who the hell are you people and why do you keep bothering me? Think I can remember 30 years ago? I can't even rememebr where I put my glasses last night or where the Metamucil is for that matter...I'm gonna try to fire up the '69 Galaxy 500 and show up (they don't let me on airplanes anymore; something about a 'no-fly' list).

Occupation: Curator
Comment: A second long, tall glass of Carlo Rossi Sangria and I disclose and expose. I once lived at LuLu, a Noble place, but in Wilmington, Delaware they just call me lulu (look it up before you jump to conclusions). My Kentucky-born daughter is a collegiate math geek (at a different UD – go Blue Hens). Oh, what a complex variable Kelly weaves. She never learned to ride a bike, but you should see her deriving [sic]. My Delaware-born son is an aspiring sculptor in the artsy town of Bellefonte. Spot of tea? Sculpt, Baby, sculpt. John the Fourth has an ever-increasing appetite for all things edible, but he will also take broccoli when offered. My lone significant other spent the first half of his working career as a chemical engineer (go Engineers) and the second half as a tax attorney (go Quakers). Well, at least Jack can grow the occasional tomato and kept more than the occasional tooth. Hair, too. Who knows what the next half will bring, but it may be the pony-tailed Captain of the Kayak Pirates savaging the 9th Street South shoreline (Kirby’s Point to me). Though the searing threat of that doesn’t quite work with the Benjamin Graham books in tow, does it? (Jack always had an attraction for Grahams.) Perhaps I’ll just call him a Sea Rover. Rovers? Yes, I enjoy telling long tales (in case you hadn’t guessed) and raising tailless dogs. Boxers are best, especially a "Penny"-colored one with a perfect dish. Do Boxers ever stop playing? But I love a Johnson. Classic American Bulldog, that is. Ollie the fence jumper, by golly. Olivia for long. From canines to felines. My Havana Brown is Rooster Oh. His direct ancestors are with us, too: Mary Mo and Mocha Joe (he adding the "simonizer" to the Brown recipe). Rooster, Mary, and Mocha for short. Here guys, have a mouse before Ollie stomps on it. Speaking of roosters (the other kind), I enjoy painting them in a bikini on the Brigantine beach. Roosters . . . in bikinis. If you own a fancy one (a rooster, not a bikini), bring it down (up, over?) for me to paint. I collect iron door stops. And money. Other people’s. Just kidding. I also enjoy old jugs, as does Jack. Especially if they are full. Hence, the Carlo Rossi, as there be no Merlot for me either. I’ll take yesterday’s vintage. Not kidding this time. All this, all true – who’d a thunk it? Sue, you?

Comment: I met my husband at a wedding of mutual friends and have been married for 22 years. We lived in Portsmouth, NH for a few years and then returned to the Lansdale, PA area. I started working in the pharmaceutical industry shortly after returning to the area. My life these days is centered around my family and my 16 year old son's activities.

Thanks to Bob Haines for setting up this awesome website. He's done a terrific job. Hope to see a lot of you on November 26th.

Children: 3
Occupation: Rabbi
Comment: After UD I went to Temple U. I met my wife, Roxanne, way back when and we got married in 1980. After that we spent a couple of years in Israel. I've been a rabbi for 18 years, and in my current congregation for 10 years. We live in the suburbs of Cleveland where we have been since 1991. Roxanne went to medical school as a second career, after we had two children, so that was quite the adventure for a few years. Our eldest is our daughter Talia and she is a university student. My boys, Eli and Micah, are entering grades 11 and 7 respectively. Our house is filled with love and music and of course, the angst of adolescence. I'm about to spend the second summer (of three) in Jerusalem in a continuing education program for North American rabbis. All in all, life has been great.
